The Iron Mask is a fantasy adventure film released in English-speaking countries as Journey to China. The movie has been described as “a long lost classic” and is available on DVD. Journey to China was produced for $1 million dollars and grossed over $7 million internationally. It won the award for Best Foreign Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, along with seven other awards. Journey to China stars Jason Flemyng and Charles Dance, Rutger Hauer, Jackie Chan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Helen Yao.
It is a fantasy adventure movie, which follows a man who finds himself in China. Journey to China is available on DVD and won the award for Best Foreign Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, along with seven other awards. It is the sequel to Viy, which was a loose hit in Russia.
Plot of the Story
The story is pictured in the 18th century. It runs around a cartographer, who is traveling in the Trans-Siberian region.
The cartographer, played as Jonathon Green undertakes a scientific and supernatural journey, finds himself in China all the way from England. He finds out about Russian Tzar Peter I in prison in the Tower of London under the watch of pugilistic Warden Hook.
Soon he escapes from the prison and informs his wife, Emma about Chinese people being robbed by Princess Chen-Lan, who is actually an imposter.
He starts looking for allies in this remote region of China and finally finds them. Together they get to the fortress where Peter I is imprisoned, defeat a horde of enemies.
Cast of the Movie
The movie comprises of many well known actors and actresses. The lead role is played by Jason Flemyng as Jonathan Green, Helen Yao as Cheng Lan and Yuri Kolokolnikov as Peter the Great.
The movie also stars Anna Churina as Miss Dudley, Charles Dance as Lord Dudley, Rutger Hauer as Ambassador, Jackie Chan as Master, Arnold Schwarzenegger as James Hook and Martin Klebba as Captain.
The movie was officially planned to be released on 16 August 2018 in Russia. But it was later released on 19 September 2019.
The film has few positive reviews from all over the world. The censor board channeled “Iron Mask unites Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger for a bizarrely misguided adventure that aims for epic fantasy with unintentionally hilarious results.” The film was also nominated for “Golden Eagle Award” and won the award.
The audience believes that the movie could have been more elaborate and clearer. Many people do not believe that the film has any deep meaning to it at all, but that is debatable.
The viewers felt they were not in the world of Journey to China. It was full of thrill and actions which made it worth the watch.
The acting in Journey to China was not as good as other films by Jackie Chan, but he still delivered an entertaining film with a reasonable of heart.
